Week 4
This week has been a
good week, and seems to have gone by quite fast. It was Nik's first
full week back at work and the
last week with Granny & Grandad "T" about to help.
A supply and demand issue
during breast-feeding (i.e. too much), a call to the NCT (National
Childbirth Trust) helpline provided some tips that have made feeding
better for both Mum and Finlay. And at Finlay's Week 4 weighing
he was up to 3.82 kg from 3.60 kg last week (thats 8 lb 7 oz
from 7 lb 15 oz in old money).
Finlay went for more
walks along the railway line with and a long walk along the beach.
He was also very good when we all went out for a pub meal the night
before the grandparents went home.
Other news includes that
Finlay's hand has finally healed-up after forming a blister where
the hospital canula rubbed, so the gloves are off!! (which he is
much happier about). This has meant he has been able to start grabbing
and pulling things more which is great fun.
And at the weekend the
weather was beautiful so we all spent time in the garden and Annie
got her "tatties" planted, while Finaly over-saw the whole
process.

Week 3
This week Nik went back
to work, Granny & Grandad "T" came up to see us and
help, but before all that... we had another trip to A&E - but
for Nik this time. While making a path in the garden for Finlay's
pram to get to the railway line, Nik managed to drop a large granite
rock on his finger!
It's not quite so quick
getting out to the hospital when you have to sort out the car seat,
and grab a change bag before leaving. Luckily nothing was broken
but Nik has been sporting a large bandage all week.
Granny and Grandad have
been great, and took Finlay on his first trip in the pram along
the railway line. Annie and Finlay have been experimenting with
new breastfeeding positions, trying to find what works best.
We also had our first
visitors and Finlay met some of his future play mates. At the weekend,
to start Finlay's ecological training early, the whole family went
on a trip to Duthie Park and the botanic gardens. We even managed
a change and feed in the car! Then off to Dobbies garden centre
for lunch, and home in time for tea and cakes!!

Week 2
This has been our first
week all back home together. The first important thing to do was
to sort out Finlay's changing facilities in the nursery, because
he was soon going to be needing them!!
Annie had a great 1st
night home, with only the one baby crying in the night and no pediatricians
waking them both up. Nik however found sleeping with a newborn in
the same room as a bit of a culture shock!!
Unfortunately we had
an unplanned trip to A&E with Finlay having extremely fast breathing.
This seems to have been caused by a bit of a cold restricting his
airways, so we have had to take lots of showers so that Finlay can
breath the steam to decongest him.
Finally, we had our first
shopping trip to Mothercare World, and Sainsbury's. He was a star
throughout, slept through the car journeys and was happy sitting
in a sling with Nik carrying him around. It was all a vry big adventure
(for Mum & Dad too!!).

Week 1
The first week was a
little traumatic with Finn getting an infection, and having to be
treated with antibiotics before he could leave hospital. This meant
Mum had to stay in too, and meant that sleep was hard to come-by
on the ward.
But after seven days the infection was all clear and Mum and Finlay
came home, which was a great relief for everyone.
